what a wonderful world

So the weather the past few days has been GORGEOUS! And it should be keeping it up for the rest of the week if the forecast is correct. Back at home, it's been in the 100s recently and apparently, all my friends and family are just melting right now. I've been very comfortable and happy. I think I'm especially enjoying it because I know that in about a month, the weather will probably do a 180 and won't get nice again for months. So I'm enjoying what I have right now and snickering at everyone suffering back home. Summer's been a late-bloomer this year...

So my room mate calls these my Peter Pan tights because they're green and kind of really awesome. She's kind of really awesome too. She's currently watching something on her computer and keeps gasping and exclaiming. It's super entertaining! She's wonderful. :]

I'm currently running on about four hours of sleep right now. I had to write an essay for my 8:00AM class last night and didn't finish until around 3:00AM. So I've been pretty pooped all day. Such a great way to start out the week, eh?

This weekend was a lot of fun! We watched quite a few movies and hung out a lot. I was supposed to go to my cousin's soccer game (she was playing against nearby colleges this weekend), but it just didn't end up fitting into my schedule very well. (They won both games though! And played very well!) And then on Saturday it was our Homecoming game (which we won) and dance (which I went to and had fun at). Afterwards, I had movie/girl night with my room mate. We watched Pretty in Pink (yay!) and ate strawberries with Nutella and cookie dough and yelled at the screen (we both tend to do that when we watch movies and TV shows together). It was a great weekend! And then I had to do homework last night... Homework after such a great weekend just always seems sacrilegious or something. It shouldn't be allowed.

procrastinating!

So these were actually taken on Sunday... I've been busy with classes. And I'm the world's best procrastinator. So there you go.

I got this skirt when we went thrifting on Saturday (along with the boots). It's actually gigantic. But I really liked the length and the print. And I own a fairly large collection of safety pins. So about three inches are pinned in the back! I'm thinking it's going to be a pretty well-worn item in my closet this fall and winter.
Oh! Speaking of fall, Happy Fall! I can now look forward to pretty significant temperature drops in the next few weeks and the flowers currently alive and brightly colored dying and not returning until around April. Fun times.

So my hair is frustrating beyond belief right now. And I'm too preoccupied with procrastinating school work to do something about it. So this is how my hair will be styled for the next few weeks. It works and is fairly functional for my day-to-day activities. And I was talking about dying it back to brown (apparently it still is brown according to some people...), but now I think I'm just going to leave it as it. Hair dye is expensive. And I'm actually seriously considering chopping it all off in a shaggy, longer pixie. I've been toying with the idea for a year or so, but I might actually do it maybe late-November/early-December. I'm still not sure if I actually will or not... We'll see.

I have to go do homework now. (See? Best procrastinator in the world!) I don't want to be up really late again tonight. I don't have to get up as early, but it's still bothersome to be exhausted all day. I did take a nap after classes today. That was fantastic.

rainy Sunday

This weekend's been really good. Last weekend I kind of just sat around in my room doing homework and settling in. But this weekend we went out and had a lot of fun. On Friday, we went out to dinner and then went back to a friend's house and watched a movie and played Balderdash. And yesterday was full of thrift store shopping and hall dinners and movies with my room mate. I have small group and a meeting for my acting class later today, and there's a possibility of going to see Easy A tonight as well. I finally have a life! Yay!

I woke up this morning and it was gloomy and raining. It made me so happy because I fell asleep to rain too. And it's still raining! It's the perfect lazy, rainy Sunday right now.

So as I said, we went to some thrift stores yesterday. I came back with some great stuff! Like this blouse and pair of boots. I'm most excited about the boots. For one, they make me taller. For two, I've been considering getting a pair similar if I could find the right price. And for three, they were probably one of the only pairs of shoes at Plato's Closet that were in my size. So they immediately became mine.

So the moral of the story is, this weekend's been awesome. Even the slow, quite parts where it's just me hanging out in my room studying by myself (kinda like right now...).

there's a ghost in my lungs and it sighs in my sleep

It's Friday! I'm so glad to be done with classes for the week! And my last class for the day has been cancelled, so it's even better!

The weather's been kind of weird recently. It's been gloomy, yet actually really warm for the past few days. I thought it'd rain quite a few times, but not the usual cold and miserable rain that is normal up here. More along the lines of a summer thunder storm. It finally rained last night and the forecast says that it's supposed to rain for the next few days. I kind of really like it a lot. So instead of wearing jackets and warmer clothes, people are walking around in jeans and t-shirts or the like.

So beyond my excitement for the weather and fewer classes today, I'm having a bit of a slow morning. I had my usual 8:00 class today, which was good. But I went to bed quite a bit later than usual to finish up some assignments. So I'm tired and kind of out of it and not feeling too well. I had some great conversations and bonding with my room mate last night though. So it's all good in the long run I suppose.

I'm going for more comfort today with my outfit. This sweater is amazing and I love it so much! I'll definitely be wearing it a lot more this fall and winter. And I've almost been living in these jeans since I got to school. They're very stretchy and comfortable. They're a bit long, but that's because I have short legs to fit my incredibly short stature.

not as planned

So this is the back of my door. My room has wonderful natural lighting, but the weather's a bit weird today.

I like this outfit even though it wasn't what I had planned. The button-up I was going to wear with jeans and a sweater is missing a button and I was in a bit of a rush this morning and couldn't fix it. And then my hair was being temperamental this morning! Everything was just not as planned today! The only thing is that I think the socks make my legs look a bit cut off... Whatever, I like them!

I got up to Spokane a week and a half ago and I'm completely uninspired by my wardrobe. I think we're going thrift store shopping this weekend though. I hear Goodwill is having a 20% off sale going on. Good-ish and bad for my wallet I suppose.

I have the hiccups. It's quite annoying.

I've been doing lots of reading and studying in my room. I'll have a more exciting life hopefully in the next few weeks.

Nervous But Excited

I experimented a bit more with my outfit today. I wore a new dress to work yesterday and I didn't want to wear the same clothes in the same way for my last week. So this is the result. I like it. It feels slightly 1950s-esque. I'm not really sure why or how though.

So tomorrow is my last day at my job! Everyone I've worked with this summer have been really nice and sweet, but I'm so ready to be done. I've already started the process of packing, but I need to just hunker down and get it done when I'm not at work. And I need time to relax before I leave. I leave in four days!!! Sunday Sunday Sunday! I'm nervous after being gone all summer and being out of the routine of school, but excited to finally get to go back (So I sang a song called Nervous But Excited... Anyone? Anyone? Hehe!).

So I'm not allowed to wear shorts or jeans or t-shirts to work. But I'm so tempted to wear something "illegal" tomorrow since it's my last day... Sigh. If only... I was actually planning on wearing the dress I wore yesterday tomorrow. But it was there and new and I didn't feel like putting something together when I only had to wear the dress with a thin belt and flats. And that's it. It was glorious. So we'll see about tomorrow's outfit. I'm going out to lunch with a friend and dinner to my favorite Indian restaurant with my family (ALL of my family! Including my elusive older brother! Whoo!). So I want to look good. But not like I'm going to/coming from work... It'll be interesting getting dressed tomorrow!

I don't know if you can tell based on this last picture, but the area all around my house if filthy! You wouldn't think that painting a house could end up in such a mess, but it does. They have buffered and scraped and who-knows-what else for the past week while painting everything. It's almost done! They just need to finish repainting the rest of the trim white and clean up all the junk. Minus the mess, it already looks so much better!
