music in the park

I spent Sunday evening with my family at a local park for our last official night with our exchange students. It was nice being out of the house and just hanging out and being goofy/lazy with my brother and sister. And I got to debut my new romper as well! Although I was probably a bit over-dressed for a low-key night of "soft rock" at a park...

I don't eat them, but some friends brought about eight different kinds of deviled eggs to snack on for our whole group. And they were labeled in such a cute way that they needed to be photographed.

Only after it started to really get dark and people started leaving could my brother bust out the soccer ball. Earlier in the evening I tossed grapes for him to catch in his mouth to keep us all entertained. This one's probably one of the most epic pictures from the night!

ruffled rompers pleated skirts and straw hats

So here's some new things that I've acquired (or have worn more than once) in the past few weeks. I've had the hat for a while, but I haven't really worn it that much until recently (thrifted). I got the ruffled romper and the skirt at Urban Outfitters today after church. And both pairs of glasses this past week from my eye doctor (Ray-Bans and Calvin Klein; one just sunglasses, the other my new prescription glasses. In that order). And the lovely black flats are from Modcloth.com!

I think I'm going to wear the romper to a Music in the Park concert with my family tonight.

It's our last official night with our foreign exchange students too. It's going to be weird when they leave and the house is emptier...

I swear I've seen your face before

I feel like these glasses make my eyes look really small... Oh well, I'm looking at new ones later this week because my prescription changed so much. I have such bad eyesight! :(

Good news! My eye's getting better! Yay! Instead of red, it's now pink. And I didn't have to wear sunglasses today! Whoo!

you were sweet

This week is going to be so fun! I'm going to a disco with some friends tomorrow night and then to dinner and a movie with my best friend on Wednesday. And then on Thursday I'm going to Six Flags after work with my sister! I haven't had a week this full of fun things in a long time!

I might be getting/ordering a new pair of glasses this week too! Too bad there's something weird and painful going on with my eye again... I can't go outside without sunglasses on. Or fairly bright places... I hope it goes away soon! Like tomorrow!

what you think you're getting for free

The view from our lawn chairs during our late afternoon sunbathing at the water park today. It was a very good day. And I didn't get sunburned! I had so much fun! I don't know why I've only been there once when I was really little before today! We're probably going to go again this summer we had such a good time!

water parks and eye doctors!

My hair's really red today... Awesome!

I'm super excited about tomorrow!

Check out my backside!:

I think I look like a Who with really round cheeks in this one:

Hey look! Yet another entire outfit made up of pieces from Forever 21! Kick butt!

I'm ridiculously excited, though! I'm going to Raging Waters tomorrow! And the optometrist! Is it weird that I like going to the eye doctor? I don't like it when they put drops in my eyes (every time...!), but I still really like it. And my optometrist has this kind of grandma-ish waiting room with lots of aquariums and ceramic figurine sets of like gnomes and woodland creatures. Such an interesting place to get my eyes checked every year... haha!

Does it look like I have make-up on in these pictures? I don't think it does, but I totally do! But I think I've been leaning more towards "less" make-up (I don't think I can say cleaner or fresher because it's just... less). It's kind of just foundation and mascara now with a little bit of eyeliner every once in a while. Oh well. I suppose I don't look bad or anything...

meh...

Ever have one of those days when your outfit looks really good in the morning when you put it together and then after a few hours, you actually really kind of hate it? That's how I felt today. Just over all, I'm not satisfied with what I'm wearing or how I look. Ugh!

Today was also one of the first days that I really wished I didn't have a job right now. There was almost nothing going on when I didn't have one and now a whole bunch of stuff if popping up during the day that I can't do. Like going to the beach this afternoon. People kept asking if I was going, but I had to say no every time. I'm really bummed. And so was everyone else when I said I had work. But! I get to go with everyone to the water park on Friday! And my best friend's coming too! So only one more day of work this week and then fun stuff on Friday!

so good, so good

No joke, the waves actually got even bigger!

These are kind of in reverse order... I'm going to pretend that I did it on purpose in an attempt to be unique and make it look like I'm, in a sense, rewinding this weekend...

As you can see, I had a pretty relaxing weekend with my family. Although those huge waves weren't very relaxing... But I had a good time and got quite a bit of reading done.

And I finally got to see Toy Story 3! It was such a good movie and a very nice continuation of the story. It was definitely not a cheesy sequel like most sequels tend to be. It did not let me down at all! And I totally cried. I'm not ashamed to admit it (although I cry during a lot of movies...). But they were more happy, sentimental tears because the end was just so perfect. It's definitely yet another Pixar masterpiece. I'm still wiggling in my seat and grinning in excitement when I think about it. Haha!

knew she'd have to come up soon for air

We went down to my grand parents' house at the beach this weekend for the Fourth and had a great time with the family. We played cards, ate lots of good food, and just enjoyed each other's company. Our exchange students had lots of fun too! And I finally met my newest cousin! I was beginning to think that he might not exist after never seeing him in person...

These pictures were taken by my little brother today when we took the ferry over to the beach. That's why my feet are kind of... missing. But he did a pretty good job of them, no? And I didn't even ask him to take them! He just kind of snatched my camera and started taking pictures of things! I think the first one might be my favorite.

The waves were huge! We weren't allowed to go in the water past our knees because they were so big and there were powerful rip tides that were too dangerous. We had to move back a few times even so that our towels and things didn't get drenched. It was kind of amazing to sit and watch the over six-feet-tall waves crash and break.

So now we're home and the week is about to finally begin. I came home to really excited dogs and a whole bunch of Facebook notifications. So Austin and I are watching Taking Woodstock and Mum's snoring on the couch. I almost don't want to go to work tomorrow; I just want this weekend to keep going forever and ever.
