Registration is a Beast....

So it has been decided that registering for classes for Jan and Spring Terms pretty much kind of sucks. Why does this process have to be so confusing? And on top of that, why can't any of the classes that look interesting be at times that don't conflict with the classes I need and am taking during Spring Term?? I'm trying to find alternative classes and all of the ones that I would want to take in place of this one that I might not get into are at the same times as the other two that I'm most likely for sure taking if all goes well. I'm slightly freaking out. But there's time for registration freak-out later.

Right now, I have an essay and about 50+ pages of reading to finish for my Honors Reading class, an online survey for my Soc class, and math assignments to finish tonight. Yay....

On another note, Disney fruit snacks rock my world. Period.

(10 days 'till I go home for Thanksgiving!)

the first snow

IT'S SNOWING!!!!! I'm actually fairly excited about this. Despite the whole cold factor that comes along with the stuff.... It's the first snow of the season, and definitely not the last. This is just like baby snow for this area of Washington, so I've heard. There will definitely be a snowman battlefield on the front lawn of my dorm once there's enough snow. And snow angels. I'm kinda looking forward to the next few weeks of cold weather and snow before I go back home to fairly temperate Southern California for Thanksgiving and Christmas where we wear t-shirts and jeans for the most part during "winter." I have a feeling I'm going to feel quite a bit superior to everyone back home for about an hour while I tell tall tales of my snowy adventures at university in the exotic Pacific Northwest. They'll all be entranced by the wonders I've seen! (Not really.... My family goes skiing and snowboarding every year. They know snow.)

(The view from my window of the bit of snow on the ground.)
(You can't really see it, but the snow's falling. I hate my camera sometimes.....)

Swimming through a sea of textbooks and portable coffee cups....

Greetings from the Kingdom of Study! I have lots to do over the next few weeks before Thanksgiving break so I'm essentially stuck in my room for long hours reading books and studying for exams (like the one I have in Sociology tomorrow....). But the good news is that the clothes I ordered from Alloy came in the mail yesterday! I got tights and a new shirt, so I excitedly wore my new tights today. Sadly, I really only went to the cafeteria, my history class, the computer lab, and my dorm today so they didn't really get to be showcased, but I've got all year to wear them. I took a study break to fix my camera's self-timer and get some pictures of what I wore today though and to photographically catalog how much I have to do tonight. Ugh. There's so much....

(my bed is comfier than your bed. period.)

(History, Sociology, Honors Reading, and Pre-Calculus..... oh my)

(this picture was an accident, but I really liked it because of the depth and the details it shows from the hem of my dress.)

Cabin Fever and Ghosts of Adventures Past

It feels like life right now is just a whole bunch of boring hours heaped on top of each other full of school work and more school work. I have lots of reading to do for a lot of my classes. So instead of going out and doing fun things with my friends and going on adventures, I'm stuck in my dorm room staring at a computer screen blankly with nothing to do when I take a quick break from staring at the pages of a book for hours. Let's face it, Facebook can be entertaining for only so long....

I can't wait to go home for Thanksgiving in about two weeks. I can sleep on my couch and cuddle with my dogs and hang out with my friends and family without having to worry too much about school. It will be glorious. I'm hoping to fill up all my time with people when I'm not sleeping. I already talked to my older brother today about demanding we go see Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day (my dad, my brother, and I most likely) while I'm home because it's not playing up here.... (which is stupid. I've been waiting for this with baited breath since I heard about it and was planning on seeing it opening night with my friends who're just as obsessed with the first movie as I am. Why would they decide on a limited release where I inconveniently am not living anymore at the moment? That's so uncool....) And hopefully there will be a choir reunion for everyone home who was in my chamber choir last year. And who knows what else besides eating my weight in turkey and pie with my whole family for a whole day (maybe two).

I'm just getting so anxious and desperate to go home. I'm getting cabin fever. I need an adventure this week. Desperately.

Here's some pictures from my last big adventure with my friends to Seattle:

(I always sit in the backseat.... those are my friends, by the way....)
(At a lookout over Seattle)

(We had late-night snack/dinner at Dicks almost every night)

(SPACE NEEDLE)
(and Pike Place)
(wicked sweet chandelier at The Showbox)
(the whole reason we were in Seattle - my friend's band was playing at The Showbox. they're name was totally on the marquee. so we had to document it)

Oh, and here's basically what I wore today. I went and had lunch at my advisor's house with the rest of his freshman "advisees". It was great to get off campus and just hang out with good people and good food.
(I normally hate mirror pictures, but my camera's self-timer is being weird and my room mates weren't in the room when I was for most of the day, so there you go)

*Basically everything I wore was from Forever21 except the tights which are from American Apparel (given to me from my older brother who works there, so you know....)

Where'd the Skeleton Trees come from???

I feel like it's still 'Fall', but all the colors of this season that I'm used to (even back home in Southern California) have pretty much been drained out and replaced with varying shades of brown. Almost all the bright leaves from a few weeks ago have fallen off the trees already and the ones that are left are in that awkward 'can't decide to be green/yellow/red/brown' stage so they're not that pretty anymore. It's kind of bumming me out.... So Winter's definitely coming really fast. It's getting progressively colder and the trees have become skeletons for the most part (not the pine trees, they stay like that). So I had to bring some color to my day today. I finally got my green cardigan back from a friend so I've been wearing it quite a bit and I finally dug out the boots my mom brought up for me when she and my dad came up for Parents' Weekend a couple weeks ago. And I felt like wearing a dress today (I've been wearing jeans for too long....). I bought it for Homecoming actually. I've been meaning to wear it in a cute, every-day/slightly dressy way for a while. (It has POCKETS!!!!!)

the true taste of Fall

I have discovered a new love-of-my-life! Pumpkin Chai! It was so delicious that I had to decorate the cup and then photographically document the occasion of love-at-first-sight between this heavenly cup of creamy, Autumnal goodness and myself. I seriously went weak-kneed after one sip. It was the perfect end to my Fall Break before starting up classes again tomorrow. Thankfully I get to sleep in tomorrow since my first class starts at 12:50.

(I just realized that my carpet has some pretty awesome colors in it.... That's some good-looking carpet....)
(I got new nail polish. I'm pretty sure I'm in love with this color as well. Today's a very love-filled day.... I think the heavenly pumpkin chai has made me delirious and overly-euphoric. I'm okay with this.)
(Sorry for the fuzzy quality.... My camera, Lysander, has been quite the temperamental snot lately when it comes to focusing. He probably senses his most-likely future replacement, Marcus. I'm praying; he's sulking.)

Beware of Zombie Nazis!

So because it's Halloween, for some reason, I've been watching more scary movies than I have in my life. I hate scary movies. But for the past few days I've been around friends when they decide to watch Halloween-appropriate movies and I just end up staying. Last night, I was invited to go to a screening of the Norwegian "zombie Nazi comedy" Dead Snow. So I went. I think the combination of zombie Nazis and comedy and the fact that it was only five bucks was what sealed the deal for me. I thought it'd be.... an interesting experience. And, boy, was it.

The movie was set to start at midnight and it was put on by the city's international film festival where I'm going to school and there was a line down the street for tickets. I was going with some people from my dorm and we were surprised at how many people were there.

So we got our tickets and found seats towards the back. The first few minutes, the movie had to be paused a few times because the sound wasn't working and people were talking and yelling out comments the whole time. While the sound was off but hadn't been paused, someone started reading off the subtitles in accents and making sound effects. It was quite funny and my friend actually turned to me and said that it was definitely worth the five bucks just for the snow mobile sounds he was making.

The sound finally came back on and the movie continued. I've never had a movie experience like that before. People continued to yell out comments throughout the movie and some people two rows in front of us were drinking and smoking and moving seats the whole time. And it was actually really funny when characters weren't getting their heads ripped in half or hanging off a cliff by zombie intestines. The humor was very tongue-in-cheek and the final battle royal between the remaining characters and the Nazi zombie horde was gory, but still made the whole theatre laugh. Overall it was a pretty entertaining way to start out my Halloween this year, despite all the gore.

It doesn't get much better than zombie Nazis for Halloween, I gotta tell you.
