I'm hanging out in Montana until Sunday. There is snow. I've only slipped once. Go me!

simple little melody
Yesterday was the last day of Jan Term! Which means now I have about a week off before Spring Semester starts. Hopefully my books come in time.... This past month's been a bit hectic and laid-back and chock full of drama drama drama! But all thing's considered, it's been good. I had a presentation yesterday for my last class and an exam (that turned out to be a movie.... yay!). And then Hayley and I made a pizza and watched Arrested Development and A Simple Mind with the boys until the wee hours of the morning. And today we're driving to her house. The internet is awful at her place, so I'll probably be back on Sunday. For now, I have to pack and make some CDs for the drive. It should be a good day. Cheers.

missing you
I miss my babies....
Since yesterday was my brother's birthday, I've been hearing about everything back home a lot more. I'm kinda sad that I'm away at school and missing so much. Austin turning sixteen is a big day. Good news is that Jan Term ends tomorrow and then I go on break for about a week. But I'm not going home. So the next time I'll be home to see my family and my puppies is Spring Break at the end of March.... if all goes as planned. I'm not homesick exactly. I just want to curl up on the couch with my babies and do nothing for a few days and eat good food.

coyote with a camera
Just some highlights from the picture scavenger hunt we had last night for my friends' birthdays yesterday and today.
- at least three group members jumping, in the air at the same time
- standing in a store window, pretending to be a mannequin
- entire team in a non-handicapped bathroom stall, off campus
- holding a puppy
- imitate the Beatles' Abby Road album cover
- group member riding a P.F. Chang's horse
- your whole team in a shopping cart inside a store (the first attempt....)
sleep is coming soon....

Idle Minds
This happened almost a week ago, but it was a lot of fun. Dressing in nice clothes and running around town taking pictures wherever you feel like it. Oliver took some great pictures. These are just some of my favorites from that night. It was a good way to spend an idle night during Jan Term. You can look at all our pictures from that night here.

we'll braid our hair and throw caution to the wind
I love to braid my hair. Sometimes I feel like I don't have enough highlights or lowlights or whatever in my hair color to make braids stand out a lot and look really cool. But braids and messy buns are definitely my thing on most days. Especially, I think, during this time of year. There's nothing like a french braid in your hair and a mug of tea in winter months.

in the red
Facebook told me it was Wear Red for Haiti day. So that's what I did. Prayers for all the survivors and the help being sent out as I type. It's amazing how worldly university is supposed to be making us (and it is, I suppose) and yet we can get so caught up in our little bubble so easily where news from the "outside world" doesn't reach us until we step outside of it for a moment. That didn't happen to me necessarily since I keep up with news stories through the internet a lot more than others, but I definitely know some people who had no idea until they went home this past weekend for a quick visit. Scary.

For NARNIA!!!!
It's days like today and last night that are the reason I so desperately wanted a new camera. I didn't do the picture taking last night, but let's just say that there was black semi-formal wear and unlikely photography locations around town involved. Today I was the photographer. And I've never been happier. I miss being able to just take pictures in a great setting with good weather using a great camera and with fun people. The photography classes I took in high school weren't that great, but I definitely developed a good eye and some pretty sweet photoshop skills during that time.
We traveled to an area on campus called Narnia today and took pictures along the way. I got some great shots of everybody. AND it was 50 degrees and sunny today! It felt a bit like early spring. It was a good day.
(Laura took most of the pictures of me since we were doing quite a bit of walking and setting up the tripod every few feet would've been too much of a hassle....)
Happy Martin Luther King Jr. Day! (even though it's almost over.... I didn't have classes today, so it was a good holiday)
